EDITORIAL SERVICES

Hi! I'm Lisa, a Toronto-based British editor and translator
Before taking the plunge as a freelance editor and proofreader in 2019, I spent five years working as an editor and project manager in the Editorial and Production departments of two academic publishing houses, most recently at Cambridge University Press, gathering expertise on a varied range of non-fiction titles. My insider publishing experience has given me valuable insight into the inner workings of academic presses and their expectations.
I have also cemented my editing expertise by taking the Society for Editors and Proofreaders' course
Copy-editing 2: Headway and have been accepted into the Chartered Institute
of Editing and Proofreading as a Professional Member.

Books I have edited and proofread range from scholarly monographs, biographies and reference works to self-published sci-fi novellas. My main areas of expertise are literature, French and translation studies, modern history, media and film studies, and music and theatre. After living in Paris for three years during my undergrad degree, I also enjoy working with texts featuring French. From 2020 to 2021 I undertook an MA in Translation
& Interpreting Studies at the University of Manchester, receiving a distinction, and have since begun offering literary and audiovisual translation services from French.

Though my experience mainly lies in academic books, I have also worked on quite a few newsletters and magazine articles and have dabbled in fiction. I always welcome a new challenge, so whatever you need
edited or proofread, get in touch with the details and we can talk it over. I'm Toronto-based (since 2023) but
enjoy working with clients around the world.
